For nine years, Mercy Street Inc. (MS, Inc.), a para-church ministry labored in West Dallas. MS, Inc. had the privilege of walking alongside neighbors of West Dallas and witnessing them come to Christ over those years of dedicated service. Many of the young people they worked with through mentoring and sports, expressed a desire to worship in and with their community. During this time, the Lord faithfully prepared the soil in order to grow a church.

God raised up Jerry Wagner to shepherd this partnering Church in West Dallas. He served Mercy Street Inc. as a High School Mentor Coordinator, bible study leader, and sports coach. After a period of time, the leadership of Mercy Street Inc. observed his love for the families of West Dallas and encouraged him to consider starting a church in the neighborhood. After taking a nap and praying with his wife, Jerry answered the call to plant a local church in West Dallas.

Mercy Street Church (MSC) was planted on January 5, 2014. Three families gathered in the library to worship together. As the seasons changed, the Lord began to add to our faith family.

In the first couple of years, we were blessed to counsel and marry our first couple, gain a dynamic worship leader, and identify some of our core leaders. The Lord has been faithful and continues to bring individuals and families to carry out the mission of making healthy disciple makers in Dallas to reach the world.

After 5 years, still a vibrant multi-ethnic community called to unleash healthy disciple makers, we wanted our name to reflect our mission of disciple making. Therefore, in 2019 we changed our name to Disciple City Church

God has entrusted us to plant a church in South Dallas and develop leaders who have gone on to lead in other ministries. In addition, we have commissioned missionaries to Oregon, Costa Rica, Germany, and other places across the globe. These opportunities have revealed God’s desire for us to be a local body, a regional resource, and a global reach.
